Healthcare Reform

I cannot believe how long it has been! I have been busy doing other things which means there has not been much writing going on at my house. Healthcare reform information has me puzzled. The more I listen to the rhetoric, the more confused I become. The tax payers will bear the burden of this no matter what. I think it boils down to how much it will cost, and who will be controlling it. Another czar, perhaps. And how will the decisions be made on who gets what care? I have long thought that fr… Continue

Changing the world

It is not possible to change the world, you say? Maybe not, but we can change our own little corner of it. A smile here, and a kind word there, can make a huge difference in another person's outlook. If someone meets you with a frown, try smiling at them and see if their face doesn't brighten. With that brighter outlook, those they meet will benefit, and so will they. I think the best thing that happens is that I feel better when I practice this philosophy. When I am kind to others, they arContinue

Fighting back, stay prepared

The biggest thing to remember is that you CAN fight back. Check your local laws and find out if mace or pepper spray are legal forms of self defense. Take a self-defense class. There are many available, and are often low cost. If you are ever accosted, whether they are successful or not, report it to the police. And do it immediately. The sooner the authorities know about it, the sooner they can get the person responsible. And remember as much about the individual and his actions as you possContinue

Happiness Is optional

If one wishes to be happy, they must remember that happiness is not having what you want, but rather, wanting what you have. It is also a choice that one makes. We can live in the misery with painful memories of the past. Or we can choose to let go of the pain and start fresh. The experiences we have had can become tools we use to have empathy for others. When we have been in the same painful spot as another individual, we can ease their burden by sharing our own trials. Sometimes our own eContinue

Announcing companion workbook

In Helen Wisocki and Curt Szajnecki’s blockbuster book, “Innocence Betrayed - A Dad's Story of Clergy Misconduct', they deftly illustrate what any family can suffer at the hands of a less than scrupulous spiritual figurehead. In order to assist those who are at risk, they have developed a workbook with tips and exercises for those who have been abused or suspect abuse from their clergy members. The cover states: “Protecting Children and Vulnerable Adults from Clergy Misconduct.” And that is exa… Continue

Happy Thanksgiving Day to one and all.

Thursday is Thanksgiving here in the States. A day to ponder gratitude for what we have and what we have escaped. A day of family and feasting. Except for the one doing all the cooking, that is! Many will be rising in the wee hours of the morning in order to put a huge turkey in the oven, and hopefully, they already baked all their pies.

Many have large fami

Books--great entertainment

I am trying to showcase books from new authors. There are so very many worthy works, fiction and non fiction, that no one ever hears about. Hopefully, others will join me in listing their works and giving a synopsis of what they have written.

I will also be posting recent reviews I have given, and reviews my book has received. Please join me, and add what you have done, are doing, and future works as well.
