It's a kind of romance, unrequited love achieved... but then what?

It's kind of humorous (and not the nasty humor you probably expect :-)

It's kind of a travelogue... Mazatlan carnival and Mexican journalism.

Kind of a baseball book... we don't actually see a game played, but sports has molded these characters for life and the topic is always right there.

It's even got a thematic image, hey. There's a point when the velocity of the ball is cancelled out by the stroke of the bat. A point when there is not motion at all... then things go back the other way. Mundo Carrasco's life was defined by that timeless moment of a famous hit. Now he's acheived everything he didn't dare dream of... and the second it's his, it starts to move away.

It's a book chicks like as much as guys... Mundo is quite a guy.

What can I say? Buy a dozen.

I spent YEARS in Seattle (I was a Fremont guy, Queen Anne, U Diz, ship canal type) Oddly, for a city known for being heavy on book reading, it's not very supportive of emerging local talent. Most of the famous writers from there have to go elsewhere to make it..just like the musicians used to have to.

I wonder if that's changed now that Voice owns the Weekly?

Welcome, Litnon! I know what you mean about bios, but they do serve a purpose. At least here we are getting to know one another.

Yes, Western Washington does mean west of the Cascades but NOT Seattle. Seattle used to be the only place I considered home. But alas, you really can't go home again, because it changes too much. Now I live in the semi-quiet woods. At least presently.

Profile Information

About Me:
I have been a professional writer most of my life, other than occasional sidetracks into smuggling, law enforcement, and other childish thrills. I've written for urban dailys and weeklies, top national (US) magazines, mail order catalogs, comedians, websites, and books...mostly about Mexico and Spanish. I had two syndicated columns in hip urban weeklies, both award winners, both widely admired and reviled.

I've edited a dozen publications, owned several, had a line of poetry titles, and was at one time a hot-shot mail order marketing exec.

If you are an author, what do you write about?
Lot's of stuff. A current project I'm fond of is MEXICAN SLANG 101, which I self-publish and sell on the web from this website

My latest is IMAGINARY LINES, which can be examined at
